| As nights falls the spectacular Edinburgh Military Tattoo begins. As the great Oak gates of the castle open, a hush falls and the swell of the pipes and drums cracks through the night sky as the massed bands march out in their hundreds across the drawbridge, with tunes echoing a glorious and often tragic past. This dazzling show then spreads out on the esplanade, a colourful kaleidoscope of music, dance and display. As the spectacle draws to a close with the applause of 9,000 spectators it has the recipe of an event once seen never forgotten. We will once again be staying at the Richmond Park Hotel***, Bo'ness, which has beautiful views over the river Forth, approximately 45 minutes drive from Edinburgh.
